STEM was founded in Te Whanganui-a-Tara in 2019 by visionary Hana Jensen, driven by a passion for sustainability and a love for handcrafted products. In 2024, Cheena and Alysa joined forces to carry forward Hana's vision, bringing their own unique perspectives and energy to the journey.
Together, they continue to offer products that are slowly crafted with intention and care. Our mission is to support conscious living through high-quality, eco-friendly creations that invite simple rituals to your day.
Sustainability is considered in every part of the creative process
From the materials we choose to the slow process of hand-making each piece, sustainability and thoughtful practices sit at the heart of Stem.
Everything is made in-house in small quantities at our cosy studio space in Ōtautahi. We take care in sourcing premium quality natural fabrics, organic seeds and botanicals.
The beauty of making by hand means no two pieces are ever quite the same.
Alysa
With over 14 years of experience as a yoga and meditation teacher, Alysa is passionate about offering dreamy, feel-good practices and sharing her favourite rituals for cultivating calm and connection. Originally from Australia, Alysa now calls Ōtautahi home, where she explores the art of slow living and embraces adventures that push her comfort zone.
Cheena
Cheena is a lover of embodied movement, improvised music, and yoga philosophy. She fills her cup by riding her bike along the beach, exploring knitting and textiles, and connecting in community. Cheena considers herself a forever student, perpetually curious about the wisdom and wonders of the body-mind. She offers yoga classes and sound baths in Ōtautahi.
